SASQUATCH MUSIC FESTIVAL LINEUP IS ANNOUNCED

Those of you who have followed this blog for the last few years know I have been going to the Sasquatch Festival at The Gorge Amphitheater each May, and that I tend to make a big deal of it. I make a big deal of it because it is one of the most enjoyable things I do each year! And this year will be no different, I will post a bunch of pictures here on the blog with write-ups on all the bands I see.

I am a bit underwhelmed by the headlining acts this year, but that is o.k. I usually don't go to Sasquatch for the headliners, but more for the "lesser" or lesser-known artists at the smaller stages.

According to http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/, here is the lineup of bands for this year. I have noted the ones I am most interested in seeing in blue:

Saturday, May 29th
My Morning Jacket / Vampire Weekend / The National / Deadmau5 / Broken Social Scene / OK Go / Wale / Public Enemy / The Hold Steady / Miike Snow / Z-Trip / Brother Ali / Minus The Bear / WHY? / The Very Best / Portugal. The Man / Mumford & Sons / The Lonely Forest / Nurses / The Middle East / Patrick Watson / Laura Marling / Morning Teleportation / Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros / Fool's Gold / Garfunkel & Oates / Dam-Funk

Sunday, May 30th
Massive Attack / Pavement / LCD Soundsystem / Tegan and Sara / Kid Cudi / Nada Surf / Dirty Projectors / The xx / The Long Winters / Simian Mobile Disco / Midlake / Girls / Vetiver / The Tallest Man On Earth / YACHT / Booka Shade / Caribou / Avi Buffalo / City and Colour / Cymbals Eat Guitars / A-Trak / Fruit Bats / tUnE-yArDs / Local Natives / Freelance Whales / Jets Overhead / Rob Riggle / Luke Burbank

Monday, May 31st
Ween / MGMT / Band of Horses / She & Him / Passion Pit / The New Pornographers / Drive-By Truckers / Boys Noize / Camera Obscura / The Temper Trap / Dr. Dog / Neon Indian / No Age / The Mountain Goats / Phantogram / Quasi / Japandroids / Mayer Hawthorne & The County / The Low Anthem / Fresh Espresso / Hudson Mohawke / Telekinesis / Past Lives / Yes Giantess / Craig Robinson

I don't understand how Ween can be considered a headliner. I can see it for Massive Attack and My Morning Jacket, but... Ween? Heh... Because there will be more bands announced between now and the time of the festival, and because there have been rumors of bands like The Pixies, Soundgarden and other more high-profile groups, I like to believe maybe someone will bump Ween from headliner status.

I already have my tickets, I got them prior to the announcement of the band lineup. I've had so much fun there the last few years, I figured "Why not!" Each year there are all kinds of bands I have never heard, let alone heard of, but that is what makes it fun. I always find some new band(s) I like when I go to this festival.

It is May 29, 30 and 31. This one is always worth going to. Maybe I will see some of you there this May!

Also, in case you didn't see it in the comment section on the previous entry, I have some pictures to post from the Elton Billy and John Joel concert. It was great fun!

I will also be taking pics at the UO-Cal basketball game this weekend.

And I have been taking other photos of family and other fun things that I will post here as well.

I have been having digestive problems, and while the doc and I suspect gall bladder issues, that didn't show up in an ultrasound that was done January 28. What did show up were "fatty intrusions in the liver", and the doc said they wanted to look at the head of my pancreas.

The liver thing, from what I have learned, is not something life-threatening in that it can be reversed. My body doesn't do a good job digesting fats, as my always-high triglyceride levels have shown over the years. Thus, that finding re. the liver is not surprising... the fats that I don't digest properly might end up getting deposited somewhere.

The pancreas thing freaks me out.

But I know the odds of this being something really bad are about like the odds of buying a winning lotto ticket. I am thinking it is more likely there is some irritation going on, maybe a cyst, maybe a gall stone that is blocking the pancreas a bit.

I don't hurt, anyway. And if this condition has been going on a long time (lots of gas... ewwww! With lots of bloating after meals, and episodes in which I am up at night vomiting up dinner - happened a couple of times a year for 6-8 years, but now has happened three times in the last few months) the lack of pain and major discomfort suggests there is not something major, but rather something with the system that needs adjusting or some tinkering.

I will let you know what's up once I know!

More soon.

Good luck with all of your medical issues. I hope dietary changes or herbal medications can fix everything.

Enjoy Sasquatch. Sometimes opening acts and lesser-known groups end up stealing the show from the headliners.

It's hard to picture Massive Attack performing live (unless I'm thinking of somebody else). Aren't they techno/house/DJ whatever you call it? I like that sound but it's hard to picture groups like that reproducing the same sound at a live concert.

GI problems are one of the pleasures of aging, as I can attest, good luck with those issues and enjoy the music.
