I LOVE the new Arcade Fire CD "The Suburbs".
It might not have some of the innocent charm of the first two albums, but it is so good and perfectly executed that it will have broad-ranging appeal and will make them into something HUGE.
I am listening to it right now, and the word 'GRAND' comes to mind. I hear good, full, orchestrated song arrangements that soar and glide; melodic, accessible rock/pop songs that draw me in; and thoughtful lyrics which stir feelings.
Win Butler is a very good songwriter, and in this presentation his voice should be less of an acquired taste for many listeners. Less warble, but no less emotional wail. Joy, sorrow, exhilaration... this album has it all.
This one will be the next American rock and roll classic. And not just because I say it will be! 8-)

Been playing the single on my radio show the last few weeks, but haven't heard the entire thing yet. I can't imagine how it wouldn't be great.
Cool, can't wait to hear it.
A couple of times through it, and I have to say it is my best of the year so far... sadly, all the new releases I hear for the rest of 2010 will be measured against this one!
And there have been some good ones released this year.
They sound pretty good. I'm playing some of their stuff on YouTube as we speak.
I wish I knew what was being said in three of the last four comments...! Good things, I hope! 8-)
