A LITTLE ORPHAN
...this little critter happened upon the scene!
Last night Kit was sitting at the upstairs computer and heard a kitten crying outside. We went to investigate, and ultimately located the source of the noise. The poor little feller was under the hood of our neighbor's truck, hiding behind the fan and beneath the fan belt. We got him out of there, brought him home, gave him food and water and a litter box (which he used right away), and he started to settle in.
I still haven't fixed the date on my camera, so while it might say these pictures were taken about seven and a half years ago, they were actually taken yesterday! Enjoy:
Awww, what a cute little kitty cat!
Why do cats and dogs lick themselves in the crotch? Because they CAN!
This one desperately wants Baby Mackie to play!
Baby Mackie is pretty pissed off. He's a senior citizen, and there's a toddler invading his space...
He will check out the toddler anyway.
We may not end up keeping the baby... it is a well-socialized kitten, and appears to have been handled a lot. I canvassed the neighborhood to see if anyone recognized it, and nobody did. Our neighbor said he heard a funny noise under his hood when he was at Safeway yesterday, and that's about a mile from here. So, we will put a "found" ad in the local paper, put up some posters, etc. If we don't find the owner, well... Baby Ricky Retardo might just have a home at Snave House.

Oh, Snave, just face it, you have a new baby kitty!
He/she is super-cute! As my elders would say, you've done a mitzvah!
: ) : ) : )
Awful cute. Looks like it's gonna fit right in with the rest of the gang.
Great sequence of shots, John. Hope it works out that you get to keep him/her -- a great "origin story."
Sigh... Like I usually do with most cats, I think I have already bonded with this one.
Awwww. I think you've been adopted. (don't describe the little guy in your ads, ya know - let them describe their "missing" kitty to you).
We recently got a second cat (long story) and we really thought he would get along with the first one. The first one used to have a roommate, and they got along fine. But no. She thinks the new cat is the antichrist. Nuttin doin. Not no way, not no how.
Bonnie and Baby Mackie don't think this little guy is the antichrist, but they don't like him very much. Mackie will play alongside the little one but when the little one wants to play WITH Mackie, he'll get swatted. Bonnie doesn't swat the newcomer, she just hisses after a minute or so of being sniffed at. Abby? I think she is in total hatred of the kitten. No attacks or anything like that, but she has been staying as far away from the kitten as possible, and hisses at it often.
Wow....too cute for words!
BTW Snave, I tagged you
Completely voluntary of course.
I swore not to do memes again but this one seemed pretty cool
We took in a stray (obviously a house cat - much too friendly to be otherwise!) about a month ago and we've experienced mostly the same thing: hissing and all that. One of our cats is fine if the new guys stays away, but the other is pretty damn territorial. We've been trying to see if they can coexist in the same room, but man, is that going to take awhile!
Aw, come on, you'll keep him/her. We have 8 cats and each one of them came to us as a stray. And each one started off with "we can't take in another cat; we'll find a home for this one." Riiight.
Who Hijacked Our Country
Cute kitties all around.
