A FEW SHOTS FROM THE ELTON JOHN AND BILLY JOEL CONCERT

I was there at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon 2/10/10. It was a makeup show from November when the show had to be canceled due to Elton John being ill. Glad we kept our tickets... it was a great show!

Billy and Elton do "Your Song"
Elton and band doing "Rocket Man"

Elton had his original guitarist Davey Johnstone on board!

Along with his original drummer Nigel Olsson!

Elton and his band do "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"

Billy Joel and his band

For "We Didn't Start the Fire", the Piano Man strapped on a guitar!

Elton and Billy complemented each other very well. Their separate bands were great, and they were great together! A most memorable night!

I have posted more photos of this show on my Facebook page.

CAT SCAN RESULTS ARE FINE

The doc says the CT scan results show nothing abnormal with the pancreas or gall bladder, and that all they saw was the "fatty intrusions in the liver". Let's just say I am quite relieved!

Went and was the Ducks lose to Cal in pathetic fashion 64-49 at McArthur Court in Eugene on Saturday. Despite the horrific exhibition of basketball, it was great to see a ballgame in the old building one more time. U of O will be playing its basketball games in a new arena next season, so this was likely my last time in the hallowed venue. Saw lots of concerts in there, the place holds lots of memories!

More stuff soon, maybe even some pictures!!

SASQUATCH MUSIC FESTIVAL LINEUP IS ANNOUNCED

Those of you who have followed this blog for the last few years know I have been going to the Sasquatch Festival at The Gorge Amphitheater each May, and that I tend to make a big deal of it. I make a big deal of it because it is one of the most enjoyable things I do each year! And this year will be no different, I will post a bunch of pictures here on the blog with write-ups on all the bands I see.

I am a bit underwhelmed by the headlining acts this year, but that is o.k. I usually don't go to Sasquatch for the headliners, but more for the "lesser" or lesser-known artists at the smaller stages.

According to http://www.sasquatchfestival.com/, here is the lineup of bands for this year. I have noted the ones I am most interested in seeing in blue:

Saturday, May 29th
My Morning Jacket / Vampire Weekend / The National / Deadmau5 / Broken Social Scene / OK Go / Wale / Public Enemy / The Hold Steady / Miike Snow / Z-Trip / Brother Ali / Minus The Bear / WHY? / The Very Best / Portugal. The Man / Mumford & Sons / The Lonely Forest / Nurses / The Middle East / Patrick Watson / Laura Marling / Morning Teleportation / Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros / Fool's Gold / Garfunkel & Oates / Dam-Funk

Sunday, May 30th
Massive Attack / Pavement / LCD Soundsystem / Tegan and Sara / Kid Cudi / Nada Surf / Dirty Projectors / The xx / The Long Winters / Simian Mobile Disco / Midlake / Girls / Vetiver / The Tallest Man On Earth / YACHT / Booka Shade / Caribou / Avi Buffalo / City and Colour / Cymbals Eat Guitars / A-Trak / Fruit Bats / tUnE-yArDs / Local Natives / Freelance Whales / Jets Overhead / Rob Riggle / Luke Burbank

Monday, May 31st
Ween / MGMT / Band of Horses / She & Him / Passion Pit / The New Pornographers / Drive-By Truckers / Boys Noize / Camera Obscura / The Temper Trap / Dr. Dog / Neon Indian / No Age / The Mountain Goats / Phantogram / Quasi / Japandroids / Mayer Hawthorne & The County / The Low Anthem / Fresh Espresso / Hudson Mohawke / Telekinesis / Past Lives / Yes Giantess / Craig Robinson

I don't understand how Ween can be considered a headliner. I can see it for Massive Attack and My Morning Jacket, but... Ween? Heh... Because there will be more bands announced between now and the time of the festival, and because there have been rumors of bands like The Pixies, Soundgarden and other more high-profile groups, I like to believe maybe someone will bump Ween from headliner status.

I already have my tickets, I got them prior to the announcement of the band lineup. I've had so much fun there the last few years, I figured "Why not!" Each year there are all kinds of bands I have never heard, let alone heard of, but that is what makes it fun. I always find some new band(s) I like when I go to this festival.

It is May 29, 30 and 31. This one is always worth going to. Maybe I will see some of you there this May!
